Bring a little Christmas magic to every day with festive backgrounds, falling snow, and a snowy Days Since app icon. Pick your favorite holiday scene and watch the days count down to Christmas, with a little extra cheer on your Home Screen from the free Holiday Countdown widget.
To get started, open Days Since, add a new event, and choose Christmas Countdown. Have fun making it your own!
The Christmas 2026 event is free to create through December 25, 2026. Your countdown appears under Holiday Countdowns, ready to build the excitement for Christmas Day.
Add the special Holiday Countdown widget
Holiday Countdown is a special widget type. Select that name in the Days Since widget gallery when adding it to your Home Screen. It is separate from Single Countdown, Next Up, and List of Countdowns.
- Save your Christmas countdown in Days Since first.
- Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen to enter editing mode, then open the widget gallery.
- Find Days Since and swipe to Holiday Countdown.
- Choose the small or medium size, tap Add Widget, and finish editing your Home Screen.
The widget automatically shows your next eligible holiday countdown with its chosen background. You do not need to select an event in the widget’s settings. A regular countdown named “Christmas” does not qualify; create it through the Christmas Countdown setup above.
Is it free?
Yes. During the seasonal event, you can create this Christmas countdown with a festive background and falling snow for free. The special Holiday Countdown widget is also free, even if you have not purchased the widget upgrade.
This holiday offer does not unlock the other widget types or all paid effects. You can choose whether to include snow during Christmas setup; changing its effect settings afterward requires the applicable purchase.
Why can’t I find Christmas Countdown?
Make sure you are using Days Since 10.1.0 or later and add the Christmas 2026 event by December 25, 2026. The add-event option is hidden if you already have this Christmas countdown. Check the Holiday Countdowns section of your event list for the one you saved.
Why is the widget empty?
If the widget says No upcoming holiday countdowns, check that you saved the special Christmas countdown and that it is not paused or archived.
After Christmas, the widget can continue showing the recent holiday for seven full days after December 25, unless another eligible upcoming holiday takes its place. This does not extend the period when you can create the Christmas 2026 event.
